This is not an English translation[edit]

This is, at best, a paraphrase. It departs in all kinds of ways from a translation of the Hindi. Interlingua 00:46, 25 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've redone the translation. First I removed all kinds of extra information that is not found in the Hindi original. Second, since the Hindi is not in an archaic style, the English should not be either. To that end, I removed the "thou" and the archaic verb conjugations and replaced all of these with "you". Third, while staying true to English grammar, I tried to bring the translation closer to the original. In far too many places, the older version had extra, and unneeded, pronouns, verbs, adjectives. Table with Devanagari, Roman IAST transliteration, and literal English translation[edit]

I re-added the table which had been removed by anonymous user 122.168.160.65 at 14:20 on 8 August 2012‎. I also made a few changes to the table. The table should be here as it provides the original in Devanagari script and a transliteration in standard IAST format, and places both alongside a literal English translation. It was removed without any discussion on the Talk page. The English that is given under "meaning" is not an accurate translation. In addition, I fixed the format of this interpretive translation; as it stood, it had all kinds of annoying boxes that didn't belong. Interlingua 13:09, 13 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
